Ran still thinks that the ways to defeat the Santa-bot are supremely silly, but that's really exactly what she needs.

And being a florist, it's easy for her to get plant bits.Read more... )

Ran has been taking moping to a new level of art. She does her best to seem happy around her brother, but there's plenty of time when she's not around him. People who are moping are not only boring, but they rarely watch where they're going. Ran's portal says hello!

Ran is given to dramatics. Anyone who saw her ride to her team's rescue on the top of Persia's car would know this. However, spending all her free time in her room crying, ditching class and skipping meals for this long is going a bit too far. Ran's Omi is well and truly fed up with it, so it's time to bring in the big guns.

Ran's brother is getting released from the hospital, and he's going to be moving in with Ran. So sayth the Omi. Of course, he's not saying it to Ran's face. He's making the arrangements and sending Yohji to pick up Ran-kun.

Ran is a woman on a mission. No, not that kind of mission. It's Valentine's Day. She has chocolate. She will find Sanzo. It doesn't even matter that he's probably got no idea about the whole chocolate-giving tradition thing. She likes him. Therefore, he will receive chocolate.

Deciding to start in the most logical place, Ran heads for the temple.

Ran wakes up slowly. She's a little achy, which is an unfamiliar sensation these days, and she's extremely hungry. Despite those two feelings, she's got a bone deep conviction that she's somewhere safe.

That last bit is probably why she's so confused when she finally opens her eyes.

She's never seen that ceiling before.

Practicing kendo at the temple is both a joy and a frustration to Ran. The mere fact that she can practice without hiding her understanding of the deadliness of a blade is marvelous. The low quality of her sparring partners is more annoying. There's a fair number of them that continually surprise Ran by actually holding the proper end of the practice swords; she's surprised because some of them would to better to use the things as clubs. Of the handful that show some skill, well, they see kendo as a path towards enlightenment rather than a useful skill.

Even taking on more than one opponent at a time, Ran is rarely challenged at all. At least taking on groups encourages the monks to pick up some teamwork skills.

I think it's been a week. Maybe more. Time moves so oddly for me when I'm hopping between here and the Nexus. Sanzo suggested that I could practice kendo with the monks at the temple, and I've been wanting a place to practice.

Most of the monks reacted badly to the idea. Bad enough that I was around Sanzo all the time, but the idea of a woman trying to fight... I nearly punched a few of them just for the shit that they said, but I held back. A few of the monks around for the 'discussion' just nodded thoughtfully. Probably the ones who noticed that I carry a katana. It's amazing how blind they can be.

It felt so good to do katas again.

It felt even better to kick the ass of every single one of the idiots who thought that a woman wouldn't know anything about fighting. Most of them, I'm impressed that their holding the right end of the katana. There are three who seem to know what they're doing, but they don't have the... instinct. I'd guess that they've never been in a fight outside sparring matches. There's a few others who have potential. Maybe. I have no interest in teaching, but I'm willing to fight them.

It feels so good to hold a sword again, even if it's a practice one.

((Time-wise this is the same day that Sanzo woke up and discovered that Goku's still sleeping. Nexus time LOL, wut!))

A few hours after leaving the temple grounds, Ran returns. True to her word, she has her katana slung across her back, and it looks rather odd over her school uniform. She's also got a shoulder bag that looks like it has quite a bit more than a gun in it.

When she draws near the temple, she starts looking around for Sanzo. She wouldn't be surprised if he's outside out of sheer stubbornness.

Ran will be at the temple for the next few days, because of certain events. She probably wouldn't mind people dropping by to talk to her if they've heard about what happened. And because she's there, there's no reasonable way she can answer questions in the Nexus, now is there?

You scored as XI: Justice. The blindfold arbiter weighs the evidence and passes judgement without fear or favour. There can be no appeal.Justice is not necessarily the same as Law. True justice seeks out the spirit of the law, not just its letter. If a law is bad then true Justice will set that law aside. This is the sacred responsibility of those given the power to judge. If well aspected in a Tarot reading, this card can indicate settlement of disputes, the achievement of a just outcome. If badly aspected this card can indicate corruption and failure of justice.

Ran's used the portal on purpose this time, and she comes out close-ish to the temple. The blasted thing seems to behave just fine when she wants to use it. Making sure she's holding her bag steady, Ran starts walking.

In the light of day, the temple is beautiful, and Ran seems to remember where things are, which is a relief. She gets some very odd looks from the priests, but turns down any offers of assistance as she heads for Sanzo's room.

Once there, she knocks lightly on the door.
